The way I see, there are only two things that can happen when you walk into the MAC cosmetics store for the first time – you either leave with nothing in your hands, or nothing in your wallet, and both times, you’re completely overwhelmed. When you’re a makeup newbie, MAC feels like the holy grail of the make up world, and with good reason – they’ve been around for ever, and by god their products are of incredible quality (MAC was my gateway drug into makeup), and often, you’re left clueless with respect to what to buy. If you’ve ever wondered about what you MUST have from MAC cosmetics, then step right this way! We’ve got you covered.
The Studio Fix Range: The trio of the MAC Studio Fix Foundation, concealer and powder come together to give you the most FLAWLESS base which will stay put throughout the day. I used this for my wedding, and despite the temperature fluctuations, a fire in front of my face and a ceremony that lasted 5 hours, it didn’t budge. It felt weightless too! This is definitely one of my favourites from MAC.
Teddy Eye Pencil: Brown is the new black! The teddy eye pencil is a beautiful true brown shade with flecks of gold that is guaranteed to make darker eyes stand out. It is a staple in any make up kit and is perfect for an effortless, sexy, I just rolled out of bed looking like a million bucks look.
Expensive Pink Eyeshadow: Although I initially purchased this because it matched with one of my wedding sarees, this lusciously pigmented, rosy-gold eyeshadow goes with everything, and by everything, I mean everything.
Black Track Fluid Gel Eyeliner: From dramatic cat eyes to smudged out smokey eyes, MAC’s black track gel eyeliner is a favourite among pros, and with good reason. It’s versatile, lasts forever, and incredibly easy to apply. This will take your eyeliner game to the next level.
Ruby Woo lipstick: The girl who sold me Ruby Woo told me it was one of their most popular shades, and it takes just one swipe of colour to see why. This a bright (make no mistake about it’s brightness) red with a blue-ish tinge. It’s very pigmented, and you need to be careful while applying it lest you end up looking like the Joker from batman, but well worth the effort. Universally flattering, and more so on Indian skintones, Ruby Woo is the matte red lipstick of your dreams.
Lipstick: MAC Velvet Teddy (A wonderful, true nude with a hint of pink), MAC Twig (a soft rose that looks amazing on Indian skintones) and MAC Vegas Volt (the greatest coral lipstick ever made)
Face: MAC Bronzing Powder for sculpted cheekbones
Eyes: MAC Absolute Truth Eyeshadow – a gorgeous, deep blue shadow that’ll get you addicted to colourful lids.
